The Bristol Pool Series Event No. 1 2007 Report

After a collapse of the Bristol Pool Tour, we are back with all new Bristol Pool Series!! Can you see what we have done there….
This time the Series has had a total revamp, and the tournament is now a full handicap series. The first year already boasts an average of around 50 entries for the 4 events, with people travelling from afar which makes a quality field.
The event is exclusively held at and sponsored by The three Clowns in Bristol; this is quality venue, which has totally revolutionised Bristol Pool over the last few years.

The field already consists of 8 IPA Professionals and two ex Professionals, ex international players and a number of up and coming tour amateurs.
Although none of these could stop the legend that he is Mr Keith Brewer from coming out as the event winner and taking a cool £750 back to Poole with him !!!
PRELIM ROUND
The prelims always throw out a couple of tough draws with an open draw event, and this time was no different.
Two of the Devon guys, Nick Wales and Chris Edge had each other with Nick coming through 7-3. Neil Walsh started well taking out Dan Darlington 7-4. Jason Gilmour came through 7-6 after seeing Dave Fox miss a black for a 7-5 win. Rob Chilton who is an IPA Pro Event winner this year came back from 4-0 down to take out young Luke Rawlings. Result of the round was probably Neil Partridge beating IPA Pro Gareth Manning 7-3, but Alex Leggate might have something to say about that by beating Oly Bale 7-6. And finally Derek Murphy taking out Simon Doyle 7-5.
FIRST ROUND
Into the first round proper, and first up was Ex England International Dave Williams taking out Mark Court 7-2. Sat Singh started with a nail biting 7-6 against Nick Wales. Neil Walsh stormed through this time 7-2, and Ben Flacks entrance saw him take out Alex Leggate 7-4. Rob Chilton continued by beating fellow Professional Jez Graham, and tournament organiser Greg Gamlin went out 7-4 to Ex Professional Jamie Zambuni. A young Rob Kelly from Dorset made a name for himself this weekend starting by beating a tough Paul Elliott.
SECOND ROUND
Sat continued with another 7-6 over Dave Williams, and Walshy carried on with a 7-5 win over Avi Singh. Jason Gilmour seemed to get better as the day went on and now taking out Benji 7-4. Jamie Zambuni continued to show good form and this time beating Rob Chilton 7-6. The final game was a tough battle with Nicky Scott beating Derek 7-5.
QUARTER FINALS
Sat couldn’t keep it as tight as previously and lost out to Walshy 7-4, whilst Jason’s wheels fell off losing 7-5 to Jamie. Rob Kelly advanced over Dean Tsang and the Brewer beat Nicky Scott 7-5.
SEMI FINALS
Keith brewer was undoubtedly the favourite at this stage, but what could the others do about it. Everybody was expecting the first game to be close due to the good form of both players all day, and Neil came through 8-5 to reach his second Bristol Event Final.
Keith then took out his fellow Dorset compatriot 8-6 to meet Neil.
FINAL
Neil obviously tried his hardest in the final, but both players were really tired after a hard day. Keith starting off –1 as were all the Pro’s was giving Neil a one frame start due to him being a scratch player. Keith won the first 4 frames before Neil put up a bit of a fight, but then Keith responded with another 3 on the trot to pretty much kill the game off and Neil couldn’t quite keep Brewster’s Millions at bay and Keith came through with a 8-5 victory to take him straight to the top of the rankings. Looking like a familiar spot for the IPA Provisional Number 1!!!
